As winter approaches and people spend more time indoors, I want to update you regarding parish worship services. We will continue to celebrate Mass outdoors as long as the weather permits because of safety and our ability to accommodate larger numbers of people. Even though Contra Costa County has authorized an increase in the number of people who can gather indoors, we know that the situation is tenuous and can change abruptly. With that in mind, we are planning to move two weekend Masses indoors while continuing to provide two outdoor liturgies. The outdoor Masses will be at 4:30 pm on Saturdays and 12:00 noon on Sundays. The indoor Masses will be at 8:00 am, and 10:00 am on Sundays. In the case of rain, the outdoor Masses will be moved indoors. This weekend schedule will remain in effect until further notice. During this time, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated on Saturdays at 3:00 pm beginning November 7th.
Many parishioners have expressed to the staff and to me that they feel more secure outdoors and certainly, medical opinions indicate that gathering outside is less risky for contracting viruses. Of course, face coverings and physical distancing will continue to be required at all times.
I want to thank you for your spirit of cooperation and your continued support and generosity during this very challenging time. I continue to be inspired by the strength of your faith and your love of the Eucharist. Please know that you are always in my prayers.
God bless you!
Fr. Ray Sacca
